Who are we?
OUR MISSION
The Nature Network was founded by Sarah Whitmore and Nate Sullivan, two experienced writers, editors, and lovers of the natural world who want to share their passion—and their concerns—for the planet and its creatures with readers everywhere. The content here is meant to inspire, educate, and entertain, but it all serves a singular purpose: to highlight the importance of the land and creatures around us, the imminent dangers they face, and the ways in which we can all help save them.
Sarah Whitmore is an entrepreneur whose publishing career began more than 20 years ago. She served as the founding editor for multiple major science websites, before moving on to lead extensive research projects at The New York Times, The Guardian, and BBC News, just to name a few. In addition to being a lifelong pet owner and wildlife lover, she’s currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at the University of Manchester.
Nate Sullivan’s awe and concern for the environment began during his two-decade tenure working for his local government council, where he regularly interacted with members of the local community about their concerns facing their natural environments and how antisocial behaviour by residents was negatively affecting green spaces. Since then, he’s gone on to channel his desire for change into working for her town’s green initiatives, leading bi-weekly clean-ups, holding town hall meetings with residents, and starting a freecycling program to reduce unnecessary waste and encourage upcycling.
